Here is our flat, in all it's crumbling glory.
Despite a few concerns about the exterior of the building, we were assured the inside would be sturdy. We have started to appreciate the character of an exterior that exudes its history -- however, an update at some point wouldn't hurt.
Our apartment is the small balcony on the middle floor, along with the four windows to the right.
On the other side is an abandoned construction lot. The company went bankrupt, but left it's crane for the next company. Thanks for the eye sore?
Our apartment also sits above a restaurant that has been closed. The above four windows belong to our apartment.

I wouldn't say our entrance gives a great first impression. Broken tile, broken stained glass, a scent of trash (because trash cans are kept here) are all free amenities to our Eastern Europe abode. But it only adds to the character. :-)
Walking up the staircase, you arrive on the first floor. The construction zone really adds to the ambiance.
The view from our front door.
When you enter the apartment, there are doors for days -- 7 doors in total!
(1) (beginning on the right) large closet
(2) small toilet
(3) there was a note that instructed us not to use (doesn't open)?
(4) shower
(5) entryway to the living room
(6) hidden in photo but second entry to guest bedroom
(7) door to left is the kitchen
Our kitchen -- equipped with two clocks!
Rocks = our (unsuccessful) attempt to fancy up the toilet.
Our shower is bit brighter than the picture, but still a strange light-blue tile and cracks in the tile (top) was something we decided to accept.
Living room on a sunny day.

The master bedroom with small balcony.
It's a losing battle to keep the table clean as the building appears to "shed" a little bit each day.
The exterior is "historic" = old.
The owner left loads of 'fun' artwork (that decorate our closet in the dark).
A few small parts of the hardwood in need of some love.
We loved all of the original decor to the flat, especially the ceiling and door frames.
And we liked the tall, tall, tall ceilings.
One thing we appreciate is that we have a view down to the 150-year old Hungarian Opera House. During a concert or event, sometimes we can even hear songs echoing through the street and into our flat!
